Introduction
Cognitive Science is a cross-disciplinary subject that explores the mechanisms of human mind and brain functioning. It includes fields such as psychology, neuroscience, linguistics, and computer science. In this technologically advanced society, in order to have more time to do more things, it is the current trend to accomplish the desired goal with artificial intelligence.
Cognitive science research focuses on the functioning of cognitive processes and the relationship between these operations and the brain, including understanding how the human brain stores information and knowledge, how to understand language and how to express thoughts and emotions in words, how to learn, to reason, to solve problems, and how to formulate and implement plans, etc. The understanding of Cognitive science on the functions and processes of the human brain can locate the practical functions of artificial intelligence, and can combine human related knowledge as the design basis of artificial AI and robots.
In recent years, artificial intelligence is gradually changing the lifestyle of human beings. The Cognitive and Behavioral Science Group will start from the following three aspects: (1) Use human brain as the evaluation standard and reference object of artificial intelligence, (2) How the cognitive neuroscience can provide help to the development of artificial intelligence. (3) Where human beings should go in the era of rapid spreading AI and robots. And try to use cognitive science to locate the applications, developments and prospects of AI and robots.
The characteristics and mechanisms of human cognitive function provided by cognitive science will bring effective information for improving the cooperation between AI and human brain. Our future researches will use AI to simulate the human brain mechanism, explore the sensors needed for robots, integrate and optimize the cross-sensory functions of AI, and understand the processing mechanisms of various kinds of unconscious messages.
Furthermore, the development of science and technology is to improve human life. In addition to improving human work efficiency and quality of life, we also need to provide customized assistance to users with special needs and vulnerable groups. Therefore, we expect to target some minority groups such as the elderly or autistic people, and combine cognitive science theory and experimental methods to explore the use and acceptance of design prototypes with respect to some special groups of people such that we can promote cognitive science to society.
Although technological advancement has changed the way people live and communicate in daily life, the rise of AI and robots is bound to take over the work with high repeatability and substitutability. For the caused problem of large number of labor population that will be released, human should begin to think on the irreplaceability of oneself. We will also delve into the unique characteristics of human beings and the impact of these characteristics on human-machine interaction, understand the neural basis of human values, and further explore the impact of human values on the development of human-machine interaction and AI, consider the possibility of applying the research results to AI, and its impact on human-machine interaction.
