  Ph.D in Ethnomusicology, University of Pittsburg. Specializes in nanguan music and the history of music in colonial Taiwan, particularly historical recordings, record industry, and broadcasting. Published a book and a CD-set on Kurosawa Takatomo’s 1943 wartime survey of Taiwanese music (2008), with the former winning NTU’s Oustanding Monograph Award. Edited the Chinese translation of Tanabe Hisao’s writings on his 1922 fieldtrip in Taiwan and Amoy (2017). Won the Outstanding Research Award of the Ministry of Science and Technology (2015). Served as Chair of Musics of East Asia Study Group of International Council for Traditional Music (2006-2010), Steering Committee Chair of the East Asian Regional Association of International Musicological Society (2011-2013), Convenor of the Arts Division of the Ministry of Science and Technology (2016-2018), President of Taiwan Musicological Society (2016-2018).
