Modern Engineering

The goal of the Modern Engineering Group is to bring data analysis and robotics into the manufacturing system, shorten product development and production cycles, improve machining accuracy, such that the goal of Mass Customization manufacturing systems can be achieved.

The current planning development directions include (1) online automated measurement; (2) improving production efficiency or predictive maintenance through data analysis; (3) introducing industrial robots to automate and intelligentize production lines; (4) By Network of Things and data analysis, automatically and immediately adjust the production line scheduling; (5) CAD/CAM/CAE data integration. The long-term goal is to intelligentize the entire line, provide a complete solution for Mass Customization manufacturing systems; and extend the system to a variety of engineering applications where artificial intelligence and robots work together. The technologies currently available for technical transfer or joint development are as follows:

1. Automated measurement technology and machining error compensation, including:
   (1) Automatic 3D optical scanning, modeling and shape error analysis of complex workpiece
   (2) The development of tool wear measurement and residual life prediction AOI with deep learning ability
   (3) The development of key dimensions of the workpiece processed online and defective AOI
   (4) Development of high-precision three-dimensional micro confocal or white light interference measurement probe system
   (5) In line with Abe's principle, a wide range (12") high-precision three-axis
2. Integrated software development for automatic parametric design and analysis of mechanical structures
3. "Industrial 3.x to 4.0" manufacturing system real time optimization decision
4. Cutting tool wear (turning, milling) detection
